I thought of writing individual entries, but got quite a few emails. So here is a short summary. Keep them coming.
I thought of writing individual entries, but got quite a few emails. So here is a short summary.
First of all, there are lists of Delphi applications at different sites. Two worth recommending are:
The former is a shorter list, managed independently and with some information, the latter managed by Embarcadero is very long, but I keep finding the user interface a bit hard. For example, it is not easy to figure out how many entries are there: Looks hundreds, but the infinite scrolling doesn't help much for counting. (I skipped those two links in the previous post only because I blogged them in the past, but some repetition can help).
From blog comments and emails, I got the following list:
Keep them coming.

SynWrite is especially useful as it's a nice open
source Delphi replacement for Notepad. Also not only
for Notepad but for Notepad++ and UltraEdit too. It
has even plugins system (e.g. FTP client is a plugin).

TotalCommander was in Delphi! The new version is in
FPC and not in Delphi any more.

I know of two more software that is not famous outside
India but has very big following here.
Ones name is Studio Designer. It is an image
processing application that allows one to easily
create Photo Album pages.
Another one is PhotoLock that allows one to distribute
their own copyright photos/images compiles as an
Executable without worrying about anyone stealing them.

I have written (and still working on it) a multimedia
and home automation application called the Digital
Home Server (http://www.digitalhomeserver.net). It's
a hobby project, although it got somewhat out of hand ;)
It's written in Delphi XE Starter, and I think it's a
nice showcase of what is possible with the lower
version of Delphi. Actually, it's pretty powerful,
there is not much I can not achieve. Some challenges
require a creative approach, but that's ideal for a
hobbyist, isn't it ?

KChess Advance and KChess Elite are written in Delphi 7.
Both programs have found a surprising audience with
vision-impaired users - the Delphi forms can be made
to work very well with screen reader software, and I
added some extra voice feedback myself.
I haven't updated these programs for a while, but
would love to get in and update them with XE3.

Henk,
thanks for the link. It is always nice to see software
written in Delphi. But you are sure you have nothing
to gain from migrating from Delphi 6? From the IDE
to the libraries to the language, there are tons of
new features. If you like Delphi 6, you'll love XE7!
