Speaking of CodeRage, there is an interesting track at Stack Overflow, titled "Why Weren't You at CodeRage". I found the original post and some of the comments very interesring.
(Link found on Twitter thanks to Tim Anderson, so my time spend on twitter is not a total waste, after all... now what about the time spent on Facebook?)

Why Werent You at CodeRage by Stack Overflow
9 Reasons why I did not attend...
1. Trying to get connected with the bureaucracy
requirements was just too much.
2. Registration. Why. You force me to log in with a
password each time I try to access the developer
forum. You have my all my data there. 1 minute into
the registration process, and I was gone.
3. Scheduling free time that is coordinated with the
event I wanted to see, next to impossible.
4. Because the presentations are live, they are
rough. I downloaded some today, and the audio quality
was bad, and the content felt disorganized. Given the
chance to produce their presentations in a "NON-LIVE"
format, probably would allow the presenters to produce
a higher quality output.
5. Subject titles, maybe 4 out of 50 were even
interesting.
6. I wanted to see the VCL Web presentation (Rich
User Interfaces with IntraWeb), and after 10-12
minutes of what releases are available with what
product and licensing requirements, I had to turn it
off. That stopped me from downloading anymore other
titles.
7. 2 of the 4 interesting titles, couldn’t even
download correctly.
8. CodeGear is like America’s GM. They are working on
to many different products. So Delphi’s importance is
waning, regardless of they say. Thus, I feel the
updates are watered down. Sincerely, I don’t even
acknowledge the corporation anymore.
9. D2009 was such a disappointing release. What new
things could really be said. The product says enough.

Why did I not participate CodeRage...
I went to BorCon in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
For me meeting valuable people and chatting with them
between the sessions was much more valuable then the
sessions...
Also combining BorCon with some days vacation in the
US was nice.
Unfortunately both is not the case with any virtual
conference.
I personally would like to attend a "real"
Embarcadero conference ;-)

Why Werent You at CodeRage by Stack Overflow
When I tried to attend a session on Monday, the
registration system frightened me off a bit, so I
decided to wait for replays.
However, the primary reason for my absence was the
time zone mismatch; as soon as the download is working
properly, I'll watch the session replays instead.

Why Werent You at CodeRage by Stack Overflow
What "Levend" wrote, above, applies to me 100%
(including the 2001, 2002, 2003 BorCon attendance).
I'm ready to return the day there is a real
conference.
