CodeRage 5 is the free online conference by Embarcadero Technologies that starts on Monday (tomorrow) and lasts the entire week. It will run from 5am to the evening US Pacific Time, or from 2pm to the late night for us in Europe. It is the fifth of such conferences, and this year it seems it is even more focused on Delphi than in the past. I'm expecting a lot of good content, given the quality of most speakers I know. I'll keep you posted with feedback over my twitter account and in this blog.
I'm giving a record 4 and a half sessions at this year event. As in the past, these are prerecorded sessions, with us speakers attending live the Q&A that follows each broadcast. On Monday, I'm actually giving the opening session (not the keynote, which comes later at a better time for US attendees) on recent extensions to the Delphi language (like generics and anonymous methods), followed by another session of mine on using JavaScript (and JQuery) with the new Delphi XE REST DataSnap servers. Later on there is also the RAD Studio Product Address by Mike Rozlog.
On Tuesday, I have another session at 5am (2pm European time) on using Amazon Cloud Services in Delphi, which is a brand new session that took me a lot of time to prepare (as getting SimpleDB to work from Delphi code was tough). More on it and the source code of my Amazon service clients in the coming days. This is followed by an overview of DataSnap, covering more than foundations than the recent features.
Finally on Wednesday, I'll give a joint presentation with Cary Jensen, matching one of the sessions of our Delphi Developer Days event. In this Tips and Tricks session I'll talk about class helpers, interposer classes, and the definition of a smart pointer using generics. (Cary did a great job mixing our separate recordings.) That will be at 9am Pacific time (6pm in Europe). There will be more session in the following days, but I'll be done at that point.
Beside listening to sessions (which you'll probably also get recorded later on) the great advantage of attending the live event is to be part of the Q&A and also dwell in the chat room and other online meeting areas. This added a lot of value and made this a fun conference, even if quite unusual, in the past. Finally, I should mention that there will be an exhibit hall (still close while I'm posting this) where I'm going to offer a very special deal on a brand new product: the collection of my last three Delphi Handbooks in a single, easy to search, PDF of almost 1,000 pages. This is not a new edition, but the collection of the three PDFs with their original content. Only you'll get three books for the price of... one and half. Stay tuned to the exhibit hall for the special offer, lasting only for the week of CodeRage 5.
