Why move away from DUnit? Work with the community: 
refactor and improve it!

Every new feature of other testing frameworks I have 
seen so far can be realized in DUnit after a few 
modifications.

In fact it would be better to improve the integration 
into the IDE than to look out for other frameworks that 
don't even have a GUI runner yet.

I still use DUnit however, it has seen no real 
innovation in years.  It's also based on VCL.

DUnitX is not 100% ready for the product, but it's 
getting there and quick, it has momentum.    There is 
pending pull request I am working on cleaning up that 
will enable both Firemonkey and VCL test runners.  Not 
to mention It already supports Mac OSx and I have 
Mobile compilers on the radar.   

I appreciate that DUnitX is on the radar for 
inclusion.

Note that DUnit isn't based on VCL. The GUIRunner is, but there is 
an FMXRunner for it as wel so it can run on Mac and Mobile 
platforms. The TextRunner works on Windows and Mac.

Like JUnit and NUnit, DUnit is quite mature and has little activity. 
Now that the language has some new features, and there are new 
platforms covered some things can be improved, but the 
architecture is still sound.

The big drawback of open source is that it is so easy to fork, and 
hard to merge those. 

Time permitting, I'm going to try to get the DUnit repository 
updated with some changes from the Spring4D work.

For the longer future, I'm open to discuss how the Delphi unit 
testing efforts can be streamlined and merged into one repository.
