Delphi 2007 Update 2 is available, well, no wait, it is not... plus some more Delphi links.
Kind of a false start for Delphi 2007 Update 2 on CodeGear's Developer Network. Both on DelphiFeeeds.com and on my Google Reader account, I found an article titled: "Readme for Update 2 to C++Builder 2007 and Delphi 2007 for Win32". The description told: "This document contains important information about Update 2 for Delphi 2007 for Win32 and C++Builder 2007. Please read it before installing this update." However the link (http://dn.codegear.com/article/36777), refers to a non-existing article. In other words, the update is not there, but this misstep is a clear sign that it is coming along... don't know when, of course.
As this a short entry, I have time for a couple more links:
- Steve Peakocke has a post with a nice history of Turbo Pascal and Delphi. Worth reading.
- Antonio Cangiano posted a comparison of programming languages through their book sales on Amazon. The problem I see it that some languages have multiple best-selling books, while others have only one or two, so taking in account only one book is quite misleading. Notice also that Mastering Delphi 7 is used instead of the much newer Mastering Delphi 2005. It is a fact that at times the older book outsells the newer one (but the number of copies is very limited).

It was there
Hi,
the readme was there, apparently it has been removed
again. It contained a list of supposedly fixed bugs,
which unfortunately seemed relevant for C++ only.

You can't escape Google
For the curious: Google has a copy of the page:

Delphi 2007 Update 2 is Coming, and more Delphi stories
Ciao Marco,
thanks for linking to my article. As you pointed out
the article is admittedly over-simplistic, but I found
it to be interesting and original nevertheless.
The last update of your book is about Delphi 2005
(well 2006 if you consider the e-book update). Are
there any plans for a book or an e-book on Delphi 2007?
Cheers,
Antonio

Marco,
Delphi 2007 Update 1 include C++ and other fixes.
Update 2 can include .NET 2.0 framework, can't? I
think that what is about to happen since Highlander
is about to come up.

For example, the "Delphi 7" book in spanish of M.
Cantú, an *old* best-seller ;)
Will be translation of your new Delphi 2007 Handbook?
we are 400 million people speaking Spanish, and your
books are always a reference for any delphi programmer :)
