Micheal Swindell comments on Mike Pence blog on Ruby.
Mike Pence, a former Delphi developer now active with Ruby, comments on Delphi for PHP wondering if there will be a VCL for Ruby. The post is articulate and interesting. Micheal Swindell of CodeGear comments in the blog that they are considering it (see the previous blog entry). Mike underlines the comment in a new post pointing out that CodeGear see Ruby on Rails in its future (well, he says Borland but means CodeGear).
There is also a related thread in the delphi.non-tech group. My impression is that the web remains I very diverse environment. If I had time I'd also have a good look at Flex, OpenLaszlo, and Morfik.... but I never seem to have enough time!

CodeGear Ponders Ruby Support
Hi Marco! I haven't had the pleasure of being in your
company since Nashville, but it is great to have you
chime in.
I spoke about OpenLaslzo on Rails at the 2006
RailsConf in Chicago. Technologies like Flex and
Laszlo are great for providing a desktop-app-like
experience in the browser, but it certainly is a
tradeoff that means breaking many of the assumptions
that the user has about how a browser-based app should
behave. For now, I think that apps using HTML and
Javascript to become more and more interactive are
still the most promising route to the future.
Ruby is an absolute joy to work with and reminds one
constantly of Object Pascal, but with more
expressiveness and flexibility (but less speed). You
should give it a try! See http://tryruby.hobix.com/
Great to see you still doing your thing...
Best,
Mike Pence

Browser side in Object Pascal
Hi Marco,
I think you'll like Morfik. It allows you to create
*ALL* code in your Ajax application in Object Pascal,
including the browser side code. :-)
Cheers!

THIS is what i am praying for...We do not have such a
product in Python. Well, we have one (wxWidgets) but
not combined with an IDE so we can create the UI fast.
I also think that Python has is a very mature level
(contrary of Ruby) and CodeGear will surely gain from
a product like this.

But will this end just like the Linux support with
Kylix .. it is my impression that PHP/Ruby/Python
people is used to pay for their tools ?
You still need to pay the guys at CodeGear/Borland ..
or what flavour we have today :-)
Yes, I do also use PHP & Python ...
