After so many speculations, here is the official announcement of Delphi 2007 for Win32 and Delphi for PHP.
You can read the official announcements of Delphi 2007 for Win32 and Delphi for PHP on CodeGear web site. There should also be an article on the developer network site, but at the moment the site is reporting the error : "SQL Server does not exist or access denied".
The Delphi 2007 description underlines many times Vista support (combined with continued support for Win 2000 and Win XP), refers to the
DBX4 database architecture, and mentions a "
VCL for the Web" with AJAX support I've never heard about before... but I guess I have an idea about it. There will be a Professional and an Enterprise edition.
CodeGear claims Delphi for PHP "
is the first completely integrated visual Rapid Application Development (RAD) environment for PHP". It has an architecture very similar to Delphi, but it supports PHP for writing code, a PHP-based component library, and the ability to integrate with existing PHP open source libraries. There are a couple of screen shots.

"VCL for Web" sounds very IntraWeb. Could this be the
next IntraWeb version? Or are we talking something
new (and IntraWeb concurrent)?

That is what I was talking about CG!
Now its starting to seem like good times aren't old,
it seems they are just ahead.
If CG new products are solid enough, then the ball is
in our side of the field now.
I really hope for more good news to come in the next
months... and to have the oportunity to help my community.

Does the release of Delphi 2007 for Win 32 imply that
Delphi for .Net is dead?
I think going Win32 makes sense since there is no way
to compete with Visual Studio in the .Net arena. But
I do feel sorry for the developers that stuck with
Delphi for .Net development, just like I felt sorry
for myself when Borland dumped Kylix and C++ Builder.
And like I feel sorry for anyone who learned to
develop with C++ Builder X.
One thing is for sure... If CodeGear doesn't stick
with products for the long term there is no way
developers will stick with them. It takes way too
much time and effort to learn to use these tools to
be looking for new tools every other year.

It has been confirmed that VCL for Web i indeed IntraWeb.
Delphi for .Net is not dead. If you read Allen Bauer's
post in his blog, it is clear that CodeGear has
followed the demand of its user base, mostly still on
Win32, giving them priority over the .Net side.

<devils advocate>
If "VCL for Web" is IntraWeb, and support for Vista
is nothing more but a couple of new components that
wrap around new Vista APIs, what does this release
actually bring? Does DBX4 justify the upgrade?
</devils advocate>

IIRC support for Vista means the VCL components have
been upgraded to support Vista and Aero. I can't
confirm it, though.

Maybe the quicker and better working IDE is a reason
to upgrade. Or maybe the upgraded VCL.

Absolutely no, Delphi for .Net is going to be
released later (there is even a codename now).
I think the reasons are, as Marco wrote, CodeGear is
giving some priority to the strongest base of
developers, but also because .Net is precisely the
most compited platform, and such a good idea like
Delphi for .Net (I like it a lot, as I am using it a
lot and the best of all, I am giving my applications
a boost with it) has to be very carefully evolved.
So, as I wrote before, I'm pleased with this news,
but I can't wait for the next ones.

Salvador,
I'm really interested in the Win32 version of Delphi.
I loved version 6 and am hoping the new version will
be as powerfull, fast and user friendly as that
version was. I use Visual Studio 2005 for my .Net
development but would love to use the new Delphi when
I need a better performing application.

I spoke to the tools reseller I normally buy from in
the UK. They told me that an upgrade from Delphi 2006
Professional to Delphi 2007 Professional for Win 32
would not be available until the end of March 2007.
Perhaps those people lucky enough to get previews for
review will be quick off the mark and give us the
comparative information we need in order to make an
informed upgrade decision?

As we are waiting for more news to come, is anyone
knows what are the plans for an IDE for Python/Ruby
that executives from CodeGear has announced at the end
of last November ?

I think there are a lot of probabilities that CG is
announcing the Ruby IDE, etc. in CodeRage virtual
conference on middle of march as they had announced
some "sweet tools that you haven't seen before".
Niels:
That is excellent, I'm using BDS 2006 (and both of its
Delphi personalities) for every project and utility I
have done since it was released, and I had to say I'm
pretty comfortable with it, of course, it could be
better, and that is what I expect from CodeGear now.
I'm not dreaming, nor trying to convince anyone, I
just know, just like most of us reading, that the kind
of people in CodeGear and their kind of ideas can
really become quite some tools for developers. If it
weren't like this, we weren't still here :)

yes, a visual rad ide for python is desperately
required. just like what codegear has done with delphi
for php, i.e. wrap opensource libs and provide their
functionality, codegear could wrap wxPython and
provide a killer visual rad tool for linux without
bothering about which distro should they support.
many delphi programmers looking for opportunities in
the opensource arena need a good visual rad tool.
python is the way to go as of now in opensource
desktop apps. i'm sure delphi programmers having
opportunities in Linux will love it.
yes, borland messed up with kylix, but can make up for
it now.

I can't find "Transactional Data Module" in Delphi
2007. It seems that this wizard was missing from
Delphi 2006 up to 2007. Do you know something about
this problem?
Thank you in advance:
Nik
