Just read a "fantastic" article on iOS continued dominance in the US, couldn't resist blogging. The original post was "Apple remains the No. 1 smartphone brand in the US", and this is clearly true. However the "derivative" article adds a spin to it "40% of U.S. Smartphone Users Carry an iOS Device", which is still technically true... but seems to imply iOS is the most popular phone OS. Which is clearly not the case.
But read this: "Android devices, which utilize the same operating system over a number of physical phone providers, are second in popularity. Some highlights: 24.7% are using Android-operated Samsung phones; 9.4% have HTCs; and 9% Motorola." Now the individual brands are second in popularity to Apple, but in terms of OS, Android is not "second in popularity".
I already remain impressed when I see such a marketing spin in action. Below is the original chart... and great Delphi for Android is coming soon. In any case, in Europe the different between the two operating systems is much more significant, with Android around 75% in most countries.
