RAD Studio Hotfixes for XE8 and XE7 with 10 Seattle fixes

Yesterday Embarcadero has released two hotfixes for RAD Studio XE7 and RAD Studio XE8 including a number of bug fixes that have already been made available in RAD Studio 10 Seattle.

Yesterday Embarcadero has released two hotfixes for RAD Studio XE7 and RAD Studio XE8 including a number of bug fixes that have already been made available in RAD Studio 10 Seattle.

This effort is part of the Update Subscription benefits (the fixes are made available only to Update Subscription customers) and it is tied to the request coming from customers of increasing the support for older versions.

As you can see from the names, these updates have been in development and QA for a little time, but it took some extra effort to ensure their quality.

At the very bottom of the two pages above you'll see the list of fixes covered by each of the two hotifes. These fixes are in many different areas of the tool, from RTL to VCL, from mobile to FireDAC. Notably there is improved support for iOS 9, OS X El Capitan and Windows 10 for the older versions of RAD Studio. There are also some significant fixes to the XE8 generic TList and TListHelper.

Great that there are bugfixes, but unfortunately only for 
people with a subscription.  I know this is a business 
choice and some other companies also (only) offer a 
subscription to get up-to-date software, but I still find it 
strange to sell a (minorly flawed) product and then have 
people pay for fixes.

 Any chance of us laggards getting a chance again with 
Delphi? I am a user since Turbo Pascal 3.01 and 
stopped at XE2. Now I want to get back on board as a 
hobbyist but more than 500 euro makes no sense. I 
need no upgrade plan, subscription, support, etc. I only 
program Delphi to keep my skills up. Who knows, 
perhaps I'll even convince my boss to use Delphi for a 
project again.

 XE2 has 64 bit support, so you can use it as long as you want for 
hobby. I have XE4. Only mistake i bought Mobile pack which stop 
support for new platform after couple of months. Thats money 
going nowhere.

But i plan to use XE4 as long as possible for hobby. I like Delphi 
programming. I have also bought many books and videos of 
Delphi for learning.

I am trying to learn programming for more than 15 years now, but 
C/C++/C# never let me do i properly. The curly braces , Haha.

 Thing I like about Delphi you can write program without worrying 
about Object Oriented Programming.

For eg, i took a Matlab program and copy pasted in Delphi and step 
by step changed code and was able to make it run.

I'd love to see some detailed performance tests done
for XE6, 7, 8 and RX.

Is RX offering just improved stability, or also
exceptional performance improvements compared to the
earlier XE versions?
