Embarcadero has officially published the RAD Studio, Delphi and C++ Builder roadmap for 2015, including a number of new features and technologies.
Embarcadero Dev tools PM team (myself included) has officially published the RAD Studio, Delphi and C++ Builder roadmap for 2015, including a number of new features and technologies. To read it, head to:
community.embarcadero.com/index.php/blogs/entry/rad-studio-2015-roadmap
I'm quite happy of the current planning for the year, with a lot of effort around developer productivity and a push to support Windows 10 in full, new mobile feature (and 64bit iOS, of course), Internet of Things support, and much, much more. There are quite a few smaller features I'm really fond of, from native platform HTTP and HTTPS support to the new IDE library manager. More information coming soon, starting with information about the next release.
PS: A great time to update to XE7 and get the next release with it, with a couple of the current offers (upgrade amnesty with one year update subscription, or free time-limited support with a regular update subscription or license), see www.embarcadero.com/radoffer.

RAD Studio 2015 Roadmap
Thank you for taking the time to post this
information, it is useful

Good to have Roadmaps
Thank you, I am glad to see that we really get
roadmaps more regularly now.
That there are not this many new features, but more
enhancements, lets me hope that the quality is
improved further. And that we'll be able to work with
XE8 once it is out (the memory problems do not allow
us using XE7 currently as it crashes too often).
4k monitor support:
Good to hear regarding the VCL. I have only minor
problems using a 4k monitor and two full HD monitors
as development environment. But of course
improvements would be very welcome there as well. ;-)

there's 2 things not exist in rad studio 2015
1- Linux application development
2- web application development
compare to other compatitors
they have win32, linux and web apps

Hi Marco,
Unfortunately, there is no BiDi support for FMX on
your roadmap. Why?

Will Embarcadero support BiDi is FireMonkey for 2015?
It seems that FireMonkey controls lack any property
for supporting BiDi since 2011
http://qc.embarcadero.com/wc/qcmain.aspx?d=98644
Embarcadero says always it’s on the roadmap, is it
for 2015, please give us a clear answer for
supporting BiDi in FireMonkey

Windows 10 - app store apps?
Marco, can you elaborate on "support Windows 10 in full"
please? Specifically, does it mean supporting Windows Store
apps, something I know was not technically possible in Win 8
due to the restriction? (Apps had to link against the VC libraries,
I think. I haven't heard about any relaxation of this requirement
in Win10 yet.)

RAD Studio 2015 Roadmap
Marco, would you please consider 2 years of release
cycle for the major version, but still deliver
update / service pack / add on pack on regular time
frame let say 4 month.
Update / service pack will be free for subcriber,
but available with an update price, add on will not
be free for all, and need to be purchase
seperately.
Add on is something like support for new
android/ios/windows version support.
Major release include new IDE feature, new Language
feature, new Platform supoort (like linux server or
linux client or new mobile processor support)
With this scheme, you can overcome the rapid
changing in platform update (they updated not in
the same time frame, so it is crazy to follow them
all with major update, but very possible with just
an add on). You can still keep delphi up to date
with the latest release of each platform while you
also keep in mind of all your user, that is the
developer and also the component developer. 6 month
is crazy for component developer to keep up. I'm
pretty sure it is not a technical problem.
Please consider this.
Thanks
Iwan

I agree with the above. As a freelancer I cannot
afford to buy an update so often.

LLVW compiler
Windows 32 bit C++ Compiler - LLVM base toolchain
(like 64bit).
Does this mean my current applications, which take 20
seconds to compile as 32 bit and 6 minutes as 64 bit,
will now take 6 minutes for both 32 and 64 bit?

No BiDi?
Hi,
What about full BiDi Right-To-Left support for iOS and
Android?
Thanks,
Asaf

I would really like to see an equivalent of ?: in C
supported in Delphi.
Like a := if b = c then x else y
It's so much more beautiful than
if b = c then
a := x
else
a := y
or the dreaded iff function
Will it ever come????
It doesn't seem difficult to parse and compile and
the keywords needed are already there.

Can you give us the ability to read values from a
tdataset without having to navigate to the record.
I can see that it's possible to do this using
TFDMemTable with statement like:
fdsPeople.Table.Rows.ItemsI[i].GetValues('FirstName',
True);
where
fdsPeople = instance of TFDMemTable
i = an integer referring to the record index
This is a very small feature but it's very beneficial
to people working with database applications.
Thanks,
Loc Nguyen
