vb2delphi by Albert Almeida

vb2delphi is a VB6 to Delphi source code conversion tool, still with limited capabilities but promising....

A Delphi developer that I know, who is now living in Italy, has asked me to host his VB6 to Delphi source code conversion tool on my web site. I've been more than happy to oblige. The tool is still a prototype and Albert is still working on it, but I suggested him to start spreading it even in an incomplete format, to get feedback from other developers.

More details and the download file can be found at www.marcocantu.com/tools/vb2delphi.htm.

The tool is currently free, but not open source. I don't think there is any plan set in stone regarding its future, feedback is appreciated.

I would be very interested in a tool that would do
such a conversion in a reliable manner. I wish him
every success with this project.
Wouldn't it be in codegear's interest to aid such a
venture? There is still a lot of vb6 code in use out
there and even still some development. Many people
don't want to go to .net and are waiting to see if
something turns up.

Agree!
I like Delphi. It is a good tool. But our team uses
VB in some projects.
We don't want to move to VB.NET. There are no more
new supports in VB. So we stuck here now.

If such conversion tool is from CodeGear, and the
conversion can be more than 90%, it will let us try
to convert all our VB system to Delphi.

so why don't you guys take a look at the tool and tell
me/us how to improve it? yes, there are a lot of
missing features, but remember that software
engineering is an "iterative and incremental process".
i need your feedback to be sure that what is already
implemented works fine. only then would i be able to
go on.

thanks ahead!
