The past one was quite a week! I gave two full day tutorials at my office on dbExpress IV (including the new metadata support I'll blog about ASAP) and on the ClientDataSet component. On Wednesday evening I drove to the Linate airport to fetch DavidI. On Thursday we had organized a full day conference in Italy, called Delphi Day 2008. There were over 90 attendees and it went quite well. I gave a Unicode talk. DavidI covered the perspectives coming from the acquisition by Embarcadero and answered quite a few questions (again, requiring a separate blog post). In the evening we offered a dinner to a few partners.

On Friday we drove to Gunzburg, Germany, leaving Italy in the morning, having lunch at the San Bernardino village in Switzerland, stopping by in Vaduz (Lichtenstein), crossing a small corner of Austria, and finally entering Germany. 5 counties within 500 kilometers... In the evening we had a (very nice) dinner offered by CodeGear Germany.

Yesterday it was the Delphi Tage. DavidI repeated his talk, I covered Domain Specific Languages (with an all new dataset oriented demo), and there many other talks on Delphi and Delphi for PHP by well-known German speakers (which I attended only in part because my German is very limited). There was also an Embarcadero presentation, and it turned out the person giving it (from the local Munich office) had a background as a Delphi programmer! The evening ended with a usergroup members dinner at a local Greek restaurant called Delphi!

Now, I'm ready to take the road again to drive back home. I didn't post earlier because for two days my blog was offline due to a router misconfiguration (that took place because of a power failure) combined with a problem int he fiber-optics cable serving our area. I have a long backlog on LINQ, Microsoft, Delphi, and way more... but I'll be on the raod again next week (Sicily for consulting and a few days at the seaside near Venice with the family), so I guess many of the posts will have to wait.
