In particular notice there will be a new reference-counted UnicodeString type, based on the UTF16 payload, used to call into the wide version of the Windows API, likely to create some incompatibilities with existing code.

Now, when I can start writing my new "Delphi Unicode Handbook"?

I don't know exactly what is in the CodeGear R&D
minds, but I guess that breaking legacy code is the
last thing. 

I prefer to think that they want Delphi to offer every
possible tool that a programmer/developer (or a
software shop) could search for in a development platform.

I really think that too much people in the community
is fast-judging the way CodeGear R&D is doing things
whitout even a fair analysis. I really like last year
changes and improvements, so I will just wait while we
(my company) do a pre analysis, answering the
question: "how are we will take advantage of this new
thing?"
