Handbook on Lulus Top 100 Best Sellers

My latest book is currently 86 on Lulus all time best-sellers list.

My Delphi 2007 Handbook is currently on the 86th place of Lulu Top 100 Bet Sellers. It would be nice to have the ranking in the weekly and monthly bestsellers, but these are generally not updated. Even the Top 100 is not there all the time...

Now I don't know exactly what this rating is based on (absolute number of sales, number of sales per week of publication, or any other data), but I'm very pleased to have my book in the list... and also very pleased of the sale numbers so far. I'm not sure what to do to promote the book, as even organizing chats or other online events myself won't probably reach outside of my circle. I'll speak at CodeRage II (the second online edition of the CodeGear conference, scheduled for the end of November) and visit the Dutch Software Developers Network event at middle December. More details as these events will be fully disclosed. I'll be there with books!

Handbook on Lulus Top 100 Best Sellers

Books generally reflect a popularity of a product. I
wish that there were more books on the subject of
delphi development. especially with respect to win32
development. There is already a pile of .NET stuff out
there. It's great that you were able to get this up
and running. I hope the sales continue to move as this
will encourage you (and others) to continue writing
for this product. Books like these can encourage
students etc. to take an interest in the product
(codegear are you listening). Well done Marco

And yes I have my own copy personally signed by the
author :-)

Nice to know...

I am happy to hear that your book is appreciated.

I have bought myself a copy, too (even if I've read
some draft parts before, as a tech reviewer).

I was thinking about writing about it in my blog, as
soon as the book arrives...maybe this can help
"spreading the word" to more Italian developers, too.

Bye!
Marco

Well done.

I bought two copies because the first took so long to
arrive by regular delivery so I decided to try
express. I gave the second copy to a colleague. When
it comes to deliveries and support, Lulu is not
Amazon.

The book is excellent and very useful but it is not
in the same class as Mastering Delphi. I understand
your wish to do something different and be more
narrowly focused but there is now a huge gap where
the original comprehensive Mastering Delphi versions
were and/or a need (as others have mentioned) in
separate Delphi books on various areas. Also the new
book seems to me to assume alot of very advanced
prior knowledge which I would think the majority of
potential buyers do not have, especially if upgrading
from earlier versions (I am upgrading from Delphi 5).

No need to promote the book specifically as the Delphi
developer population is too spread and the lack of a
single internet gathering place too, well lacking,
that I don't think it would be as effective as
marketing yourself and the Marco Cantu brand/site
even more. Anyone who comes to your site will find
out about the book. You just need to get them here
if they are not already visitors. In my case it is a
home page tab.
