Handbook Note 82/113: dbExpress and FireBird

Note 82 of 113 of Delphi 2007 Handbook

Note 82: Even this is not officially supported, the InterBase driver can still be used to access FireBird databases. It is about time CodeGear provides specific support for this database, which is likely to be the most commonly used database for Delphi applications.

This blog post is part of my "113 Delphi 2007 Handbook Notes" blogging project, to promote my new Delphi book.

PS: As a reminder, you can buy the book on Lulu.com for 36,50 USD. Notice the if the Dollar keep loosing value against the Euro, I might raise the price in the future.

in DBX4(Interbase driver) you can see firebird blob
fields but you can NOT edit them.

I'm really not sure if CodeGear will provide a native
dbExpress driver for firebird. I hope so.
