Delphi... Turbo?
Is there a new version of Delphi coming?
As Mike Dillamore mentioned in non-tech, the readme of the new Delphi 2006 hotfixes (btw, thanks, DevCo) says it applies to the following versions:
Product: Borland Developer Studio
Version: 2006
Update level: Update 2
Editions: Professional, Enterprise, Architect, Turbo
Languages: English, German, French, Japanese
Turbo is certainly something new to me... is there a new versions coming? Sounds like a low-end/personal version by the name, and quite a glorious name it is! Go, DevCo!

I'm not sure why they would put the low-end product on the high end of the list. Notice the product range starts at Professional and ends with Architect, the top of the line version. Suddenly, it's their low-end version. Hmm....Comment by Kyle A. Miller [http://www.millerdevelopment.info] on June 9, 02:42

Actually, Turbo is the highest SKU, the only one without bugs and issues, used internally only. Management decided not to release it, because it will slow down upgrades... <G>Comment by Luigi D. Sandon on June 9, 10:17

Delphi Turbo is just the name of the edition used by Borland personnel for their own development. Since Delphi 6 this version used at Borland is called "Turbo". It used to have another name, but fot the moment I can't remember it.Comment by Cantilever on June 13, 20:19
Delphi... Turbo?
OPEN SOURCE OR BUST I have been using Borland products for 20 years (See the name TurboCASH - I also started TurbCAD. All progrmmed using a $49 compiler called TurboPascal Somewhere along the way Borland took a left turn down a dark alley marked "Fortune 500". They just seem flat footed at the moment. There is so much going on in the Free and Open Source Development Environment, why would anyone want to pay to rent soemone elses development IDE? Its almost commical watching this 20 century animal twisting in the tar pits. Come on Borland - DO SOMETHING.Comment by Philip Copeman [http://www.turbocash.co.za] on June 27, 08:58
