Preview of Database Extensions in RAD Studio 2010

Delphi 2010 has new and improved dbExpress drivers, including one for Firebird, and several extensions to DataSnap 2009, the new socket-based multi-tier layer.

Delphi 2010 has new and improved dbExpress drivers, including one for Firebird, and several extensions to DataSnap 2009, the new socket-based multi-tier layer. Again, the video is available at www.embarcadero.com/rad-studio-2010/ along with a short description. The video is also embedded below in this blog post.

On the topic of Firebird support there is also a nice video by Andreano Lanusse that he posted on YouTube and can be seen on his blog or below:

The only interesting thing would have been seeing how
the AuthorizationManager property works, instead of
the usual REST/Json stuff (both the best way to waste
bandwith, IMHO).
Otherwise it looks this Datasnap will take a very
long way before becoming usable for applications
handling sensitive data. What about confindentiality?
What about integrity? What about authorization (ok,
your proved who you are - let see what you can
actually do). What about Active Directory or LDAP
integration? What about Kerberos? That's what we'd
like to see in 2010, not how to exchange data over
HTTP... <G>
