Buy Delphi, Get the PDF of My Book

From now to mid June, if you buy Delphi 2007 you'll get the PDF of my book for free.

Extending an short offer made at the end of the last quarter, CodeGear is offering the electronic version of my book "Delphi 2007 Handbook" and a license of QuickReport 5 standard to anyone buying or upgrading to Delphi 2007 (or RAD Studio 2007 or C++Builder 2007) in any version. This is quite a good deal. I sold them a flat license, so I don't get any extra money from individual sales... but it is a good way to get the book promoted. If you plan reading all of the 250 pages, buying also the printed version still makes some sense.... but I know I still owe you the second blog post about the book publishing business...

That's great since you're writting valuable and
quality books.

Just for fun : it'll be nice to buy the electronic
version of "Delphi 2007 Handbook" and then get Delphi
for free ;)

Buy Delphi, Get the PDF of My Book

Hi Marco,

We had an email discussion a couple of month ago
(around Christmas) when I also bought "Delphi 2007
Handbook", regarding the possibility for the owners of
the printed book to have also delivered (once
available) FREE or for a small fee the e-book version.

Any thoughts on this ?

Keep the good work ....

El,
the problem is that Lulu shields buyers from
sellers, so I don't have a list of people who bought
my book. This is a pity, as I could offer them
discounts on newer editions, free or low-priced
ebooks, and more...
On the other hand, as a buyer I understand the
privacy concerns they have and the fact the want to
keep control of the transactions (present and future).

Hi Marco,

I just renewed my SA on April 01, does that count for
a free book? I have the CG e-mail if you need proof.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
I doubt the SA is covered, plus April 1 was after
the end-of-march promotion and before the new
promotion... of course, you should ask CodeGear and
not me... but seems that if you want a copy of the
book you'll have to buy one <g>.

Might be back

Hey Marco, might just do that :) I have after 10
years with Visual Studio (actually more like 13
starting with Visual C++ 1.52), decided NOT to
upgrade from 2005 to 2008. Which makes me on the
search for alternatives. SharpDevelop turned out
lightweight (my giant solution consisting of around
30 dll projects, console apps and winforms projects
loads in seconds instead of minutes as is the case in
vs) and really nice, and it would be perfect if I
only had WinForms solutions. But for ASP.NET
(expecially my hundred or so existing solutions )
SharpDebelop not too much fun.

Now off to download the RAD eval and see if that's
the way to go.
