Borland Moving To Texas, CodeGear Staying Home

Borland is on the move, but the "IDE" company is not.

According to several reports, like this one in The Register and this other one in Santa Cruz Sentinel, Borland Software Corporation is moving to Austin, Texas. Given reasons are saving money for the facility and getting more (and/or cheaper) talented develoeprs compared to Silicon Valley. Borland, historically out of Scotts Valley, near Santa Cruz, moved to Cupertino a few years ago as it started to focus on ALM technologies.

As Allen Bauer tells us, this move has nothing to do with CodeGear, that is and will remain located in Scotts Valley, in the old-time "Borland campus". Don't know about you, but more time goes by and less I understand Borland and don't really care about it.

Borland Moving To Texas, CodeGear Staying Home

Wasn't this always the big problem of Borland:
Management decisions that the majority of their users
didn't understand. And in the long run it cost them
business (remember Inprise?)...

Seconded.

CodeGear might have some life, Borland doesn't.
