Unusual Delphi Applications

I recently bumped into two unusual ways to use Delphi, a noble one and a nasty one.

I recently saw on a web site the works of Japanese professor, Akiyoshi Kitaoka - Art/Science of Illusion, who researches the science of visual illusions creating digital images with graphic programs and with, as they say, "Borland Delphi (Pascal)". Some of the images are really interesting. By the way, notice that if you browse the site with Firefox the portion of the text quoting Delphi gets hidden.

A totally different use of Delphi is in the creation of computer viruses and trojans, like this one called Hupigon. There have been many other, of course, and (annoying at it is) this certainly tells a lot about the power of Delphi. You don't want to distribute a huge runtime with your virus <g>!

Unusual Delphi Applications

The Art/Science of Illusion doesn't even display
right in IE7 for me. :/
However, if you have Opera 9+ you can press Ctrl+F11
and it'll resize the page elements to fit correct and
all images and text will become completelly visible.
(Love that feature! :)
