Microsoft Disables Chrome

Microsoft Security Essentials just asked me to remove a dangerous application: Google's Chrome browser. Dangerous it is, but for Microsoft, not for me.

Microsoft Security Essentials just asked me to remove a dangerous application: Google's Chrome browser. Dangerous it is, but for Microsoft, not for me.

There isn' much to comment. Truly Chrome is a "password stealer" but Microsoft should really refrain from removing it from my system (had read about this issue, but now I saw it in practice in a virtual machine). Before you comment, I know Microosoft has apologized and Google has updated Chrome to avoid incurring in the issue... but this image was too good not to post it and in other times (remember Mozilla vs. IE?) the anti-trust could have looked into such an accident.

The odd think is that it is really true that "this program captures user passwords", as least mine. But, no, I don't want to remove it... and might as well disable Microsoft Secutiry Essentials if this is the service it provides!

Microsoft Disables Chrome

It's a false-positive. This was fixed in the latest
updates for MSSE.

I may be wrong.

Microsoft Disables Chrome

That was last week's news. They updated the virus
definitions the same day to fix it.

A good demonstration of how anti-malware-ware is malware

Security Essentials should detect _itself_ as one of those programs that
may "damage your computer" (by removing perfectly good/harmless
software that you want/need/use when presented with a false positive)

Microsoft Disables Chrome - and it's right

Most Google software is some kind of "spyware"
or "trojan". I found out that my relatives and
friends with Android phones have sent the
informations they have about me to Google (syncing
the address book...) without my consent. Now Google
has my telephones, addresses, email, date of birth,
etc, even those I may wish to share only with some
selected people.

Anyway my advice is to install a WSUS server. Then
you can wait some time to approve some kind of
updates, waiting to know if some problems arise or
not.

Also, look where your chrome.exe is installed...

... it shouldn't be there ;)

Microsoft should disallow any executable stored in any
AppData folder.
